Scheana Shay, known for her appearances on the reality show “Vanderpump Rules,” surprised her fans and friends with a revelation about her wedding. During an episode of the show that aired on Wednesday, Shay disclosed that her August 2022 destination wedding was actually a ceremonial celebration, as she and her partner Brock Davies had legally married a year before.
Shay’s bridesmaids Ariana Madix and Raquel Leviss were visibly stunned by the news, as they had been under the impression that they were witnessing the couple’s official nuptials. Shay explained in a confessional that she had been keeping the legal marriage a secret because she didn’t want to spoil the fun of the wedding planning process.
However, the real reason for their secret marriage was much more practical. Davies, who is from Australia, needed a change in his investor’s visa in order to get a green card. Shay wanted to ensure that they could build a life together in the United States and be able to raise their almost-2-year-old daughter, Summer.
In her confessional, Shay expressed how happy she had been since they had eloped and signed the papers. She explained that their legal marriage was not about having a big, extravagant ceremony, but about their commitment to building a life together as a family.
Madix, who is also a close friend of Shay’s, became emotional and commended her for putting her relationship and family first, instead of getting caught up in the pressure to have a grand wedding.
Shay’s August 2022 wedding in Mexico was still a beautiful celebration with friends and family, but it was no longer the official union between Shay and Davies. In fact, the couple had already been married for a year by that point.
While Shay has been sharing behind-the-scenes photos and videos from her wedding on social media, she admitted to making some alterations to the pictures. In particular, she replaced Raquel Leviss’ face with Lala Kent’s in some of the wedding portraits. This was due to the revelation that Leviss had been involved in a months-long affair with Madix’s then-boyfriend, Tom Sandoval.
Despite the drama surrounding the wedding photos, Shay and Davies are still happily married and building a life together. Their story serves as a reminder that weddings do not define a relationship, and that the most important thing is to build a strong foundation for a loving and supportive family.
